MBSH Maternity Department Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as “High Performing”

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital was one of six BJC Health System hospitals ranked by U.S News & World Report as “High Performing” in maternity services for 2025. The annual ranking recognizes excellence in care for expectant parents and newborns following uncomplicated pregnancies.

Hospitals were ranked based on a composite score of eight measures, including C-section delivery rates, early elective delivery (EED) rates, overall unexpected newborn complications, routine vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) rates, exclusive human milk feeding rates, episiotomy rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities.

The acknowledgment in maternity services greatly improves patient satisfaction by establishing trust, guaranteeing high standards of care, encouraging patient-focused practices and facilitating effective communication. Such recognition generates a beneficial cycle in which contented patients enhance the hospital's enduring reputation for quality care.

The other BJC facilities identified as High Performing are:

  • Missouri Baptist Medical Center
  • Parkland Health Center
  • Saint Luke’s East
  • Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City
  • Saint Luke’s North

“We’re so proud of the work we do for our community,” says Michele McKee, BJC East Region (BJC HealthCare) vice president of Women & Infants. “Providing the highest quality care for mom and baby is what our talented teams do best.”

Congratulations to our team.
