Matt Manhart is the DAISY Award Honoree at MBSH

Congratulations to our own Matt Manhart, RN, who works in the Emergency Department at MBSH, for winning The DAISY Award in honor of his super-human nursing efforts! A patient nominated Manhart to formally acknowledge his compassionate care and thoughtful concern while delivering care.

The MBSH Nursing Excellence Committee periodically selects a nurse to receive The DAISY Award. The award, presented in collaboration with The American Organization of Nurse Executives, is part of The DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform daily. The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, Calif., and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes.

The DAISY Award Honoree is recognized in his or her unit and receives a beautiful certificate, a DAISY Award pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer’s Touch. Additionally, everyone in the unit celebrates with cinnamon rolls – a favorite of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes Family asks that whenever and wherever nurses smell that wonderful cinnamon aroma, they stop for a moment and think about how special they are.

Congratulations again to Matt on this well-deserved award!
